Ingredients
1 c rice
1 1⁄2 c water
1 lb ground beef
3 clv garlic (minced)
1⁄4 c brown sugar
1⁄4 c soy sauce
2 t sesame oil
1⁄4 t ground ginger
1⁄4 t red pepper flakes
1⁄4 t black pepper
  sliced green onions
  sesame seeds
Instructions

Prepare the rice by bringing water, rice, salt, and butter to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cover, cook 15 minutes. Then remove from heat and let sit covered for 10 minutes.

Saute the oil and garlic in a cast iron pan. Then add the ground beef and saute until cooked through.

In a small bowl whisk brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes and pepper. Pour over the ground beef and let simmer for another minute or two.

Serve over rice and top with green onions, sesame seeds, and whatever veggies are around.

Notes

I feel like this would be good with a soft boiled egg on top. You could also add sliced or shaved vegetables like carrots or spinach.
